I was in my local GW store today and talking about the gunship (I believed it a little ott - but mainly because codex marines can't field them lol... shhh don't tell anyone)

Anyway, apparently the store manager was convinced they will become available to standard marines with a codex amendment? It was also pointed out that the specialist BA stuff all actually states that it is purely BA on the box, the stormraven doesn't have this stipulation, so again is this because it will become available for use to other chapters?

I was wondering if anyone knew about this and was able to shed some light on what is going on, I don't want to fork out for a kit I can't use in my army, but I really like the model and I really like the idea behind it. Very marine like!
I'm sure most players down the club wouldn't mind me using one anyway, but I like to play by the rules as much as possible (probs why I lose so much!).

Hard to tell, but quite possible:

1) If the rumours of a 'summer of flyers' are true, then other chapters will need some sort of ship.

2) A lot of vehicles a specific chapter has access to eventually get picked up by the other chapters.

3) I wouldn't have a problem with you using one if I was playing you, provided you were using the rules from the GK or BA codices, or a WD update (if one comes out eventually). I'm sure it'd be alright in friendly games, although perhaps not in tournies...

Having said that

4) I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the wording on the box - GK will have access to them as well as BA, so that may be why it is as its stated...

be great actually as would add flavour to other non BA GK chapters . Stromraven should be pretty standard gear for marines anyway.

It fills a deployment niche between Drop Pod and Thuderhawk, so I don't see why other chapters wouldn't use it fluff-wise. I also wouldn't mind you using it in a game, I actually think its fairly costed for what it does.
