Ok, so last night me and Slasher had a "preview game" and Vaughn (22over) and someone else had the first official game...

The results are in...

Yargalt vs Slasher - 1250 points
I ran an all mounted Empire army, 2 units of 6 knights (1 with Warbanner) unit of 5 knights, unit of 11 knights and a Grandmaster and Warrior Priest

Slasher went with 2 units of skirmishing skinks, unit of 15 skins and Krokigor, block o'Saurus and enough Stegadons to make me terrified... 2 Stegadons as character mounts, ancient and normal.

Result was a massacre, the Grandmaster in the big unit of knights got himself killed when he turned out to be in charge range of 1 Stegadon, he did manage to hold out for an entire turn before the other Steggie charged in and finished him off.

It didnt help that he didnt manage to make a single ward save on a 4+ or that the Warrior Priest failed to steal a single spell of the Skink shaman with the Casket of Sorcery

The unit of 6 knights with warbanner charged the flank of the Saurus, doing a grand total of 1 wound on the charge. They were clearly members of the Grand Order of the Rubber Lance. This cost me the game as they than ran like hell next turn thanks to having no musician (drawn combat)

After losing the Grandmaster the rest of the army (2 units!) promptly failed Terror and Panic tests left and right and ran like bastards, I dont blame em

In conclusion, Steggies are tough buggers but tie up a lot of points. If I'd used my TK they'd be in serious trouble from the flail of skulls and the healing. If you can charge em and stop the impact hits you should be ok.

Be the bigger man, just accept it and take the Wyrmslayer sword and plenty of cannons Angel

(Oh and Shroud of Magnus might help)
Thats rights take a sword that removes 'all' my armour.... Sad

oh and cannons wont help - the next list to try is no stegs but lots of skinks...... Tongue

My list was
level 2 priest on Engine of the Gods (with plaque = psuedo lvl 3)
cheif with steg spear on normal steg
unit of 10 ranked skinks with a krokixor (full command)
10 sinks skirmersher w blowpipe + champion
12 skinks skirmersher w javelin + champion
15 saurus w handweapon + full command = 1247 points,

OH and 22over is Vaughan who had a victory of Nick

GRAPESHOT! Big Grin

And a stiff breeze Tongue
but grapeshot is a flame template (8") but I have to agree with the stiff breeze. :'(

Which school of magic is "Stiff Breeze" from? Is it lore of nature?
Its a special attack from mounted units, they turn around and fart on queue

S1, d3 wounds, range 12"
lol, you missed out thats its a thrown weapon (no minuses for moving or range...)
Sounds fun. Gutted to be missing this but I'm back in Canada on business. 2 Stegadons at that points level - ouch!
Week 2 and it was the non-lord armies of me and Vaughn who fought this week.

The game ended in a draw and that was fair enough, both sides left the battlefield littered in corpses, most of my units were mauled to buggery by the end and not a single Dark Rider out of 4 units survived the battle thanks to the devastating fire of the Empire handgunners and archers.

Worst thing to happen was a unit of knights fleeing a charge, taking my wizard with them and completely failing to rally them on a 9 (Ld 8 + Musician iirc) and then fleeing off the board.

Lessons learned, at all costs dont let the Dark Elves cast Black Horror on as it HURTS... took 10 men out of a 20 man unit of swordsmen twice in this game.

And the miscast of the same spell (allowing the empire a freeby) caused one of my units to panic!

First turn as well, hehehe Big Grin

It was a strange game, some bad luck both ways which seemed determined to make sure neither of us won.

My archers in the middle were about the only thing that could threaten your wizards hiding in the wood, those got bogged down and wiped out in combat with your screechy harpies. Your shooting just didnt seem to do as much as it should have done, the big unit of Handgunners holding down your Black Guard just wouldnt die to those Dark Riders repeated shots into them and 2 of them still limped around at the end.
Riks Lord (arch Lector) atempted to expand his territory in to a region that had a lizard man force marching into it.

The resulting conflict looked at going the Empires way untill the final combat where the arch lector and the swordsmen both descided that the big steg was far to scary (unit strength 10) and ran away - through units of skinks. This left a unit of knights looking at most of a lizardman force. (which to be honest had lost both heros and a unit of skinks)

Lesson learnt - The EotGs is SICK at this points level.....
Completely agree, the most disappointing my Dark Riders have ever been. They were just completely outgunned, even against "softish" humans Sad.

Very sad to lose one of my Black Guard units in turn 5. That really cost me the game. In the same way your failing to rally your cav cost you a turn earlier.

Can't wait for the rematch! Very enjoyable.
Also i'm still not sure for certain which or my armies has the castle and therefore the extra special slot, is there a campaign map on the way?
A good game today between me and Vaughan.

The end result was Vaughan managed to achieve a well deserved minor victory against me, by 2 points! I hope for a re-match one day soon, maybe next time I'll win by 2 points? Wink

Also during this battle 7 of my Warriors died plus "Andrew" the Sorcerer, that means there's a few less Warriors terrorising the soft southern lands (now there's 298).

(edit: sorry, I meant 292. My fluff is a kind of slaaneshi version of 300. 300-8 is 292, not 298)
Last night was not a good night for the Warriors of Chaos as Nick tried to expand his terrorties, and was confronted by a Lizardman force lead by an Oldblood........

Nicks forces consisted of an Exhalted on Disk
lvl 2 Nurgle sorcerer on barded steed with book of secrets
2 units of 5 nurgle knights (1 with lances and banner of frenzy)
2 units of 5 khorne maurder horse
1 unit of dogs

He was up against
Oldblood on Carnasour with Blade of realities and blood statue
Lvl 2 priest with scroll and diadem
6 Coldone Cav with full command
3 terradons
2 X 10 skink with blowpipes and brave
1 x 10 skink with javelin and brave

It started off going my way with a large amount of damage done to chaos - then 1 unit of knights got into combat and wipped out my Coldone Cav and a couple of skinks units. Although to late to change the overal course of the battle...

Which was a solid Lizardman victory (by about 400 points)

Yep, a very enjoyable game, thank you Andrew. Can't wait for the rematch, I learnt plenty.

The fluff on my army fits quite well with the battle. Young sorceresses on horses protecting Naggaroth at the edges of the chaos wastes.

298 to go [evil laugh].
T'was a sad day for Sorcerer Lord Andrew's army today, poorly equipped and poorly led they were killed to a man (18 more Chaos Warriors down, 274 to go).

At the end of the battle the Dark Elves led by Luke lost but a single unit of Corsairs and the field undeniably belonged to them: Victory to the Dark Elves by a huge margin of 1,387 points; well into the "massacre" section of the victory-table.

I'm planning to play against Togo (sorry, I don't know his real name) with his Skaven next week. Lord Andrew will be back on the field of battle to ensure that things are run properly, and with Slaanesh's blessing perhaps victory will be mine?
