Here's what I brought:
Siege
Squire
hunter
full Nyss
Jonas
gun mages with a marshalled defender
Arlan Strangeways
Black 13th
rangers
stormcaller
storm tower
Eyriss
Shooty list is shooty.
Here is what Steve brought.
Seryen
Carnivean
scythean
seraph
shredder
2 shepherds
forsaken
maxed out striders
Hex hunters and Baal
3 spell martyrs
gobbers
Unkillable in melee list is unkillable on melee.
We were playing Overrun (I think, the one with the big rectangle in the middle.)
Steve set up first. Striders and hex hunters on the flanks, seraph behind the wood, big monsters up front.
I spread out a big line of guns with black 13th on one flank and nyss on the other.
SteveTurn 1: Steve handed out spiny growth and respawn and a few other things and shuffled everything four inches forward. That was it.
Lewis Turn 1: I wondered why Steve had shuffled four inches forward and decided I was going to grab an early point as he was evidently trying to dance the line between our threat ranges. I pushed the hunter into the zone. The elves came forward as did the rangers ready for a sprint at some point. Siege hid the hunter and a ranger inside a fox hole.
Steve Turn 2: Steve reminds me that you don't score control points on turn one and I instantly regret moving at all. Striders come forward and pepper the black 13th, killing Lynch who had the best chance of killing them. The Shredder barrels up to the Nyss and Blight shrouds some followed by a Carnivean spray that gets them down to about half strength plus the loss of a few rangers. The feat went off so the shredder couldn't be cleared out in hand to hand. Also Seryn stands behind a wall and is now def 22 with 3 fury. I can't kill her next turn.
Lewis Turn 2: Steve has forced a feat turn. I figure that if I can kill off 2 of Steve's heavies and the shredder He will be sufficiently hampered for me to be able to squeeze a win next turn. If he comes out of it with two heavies alive then he's going to have enough jank left in him to do me over. I open fire. The Scythean dies, the Shredder dies, the Carnivean goes down to about two wounds. Bum.
Steve turn 3. Steve heals the Carnivean. He pushes forward a spell martyr to put breath stealer on Siege. The Carnivean sprays Siege. The seraph swings in and focuses three shots on Siege. Siege dies a horrible death.
I'll add in my comments later, but it was a really good game which involved far more thinking than the report suggests.
