Well, seeing as the old forum is pretty dead now, I thought I should bring some things over here to make this place feel a bit more homely.

So, in Tony's immortal words:
ComfySofa Wrote:Drop a quick post here to say hi and let everyone know what games you're into, what armies you field, what you're drinking etc.
Hi, I'm Andrew but Andy is fine too, I play Warhammer Fantasy, at the moment I'm using Daemons of Khorne but I've played Dark Elves (back before they were good), Skaven, and Empire (Averland), I'm about to start Chaos Warriors which will probably be Khorne but that's not for definate yet.

I am quite unusual in that I can field about 3000 points of fully painted Skaven: that's a LOT of dirty rats.
You got here before me!
You cad!

Anyway.
I'm Tom, I'm on the Committee, and normally around from 7:30ish til closing.
At the moment I'm mostly playing Warmachine (Cygnar) and Hordes (Circle Oroboros), but I also play 40k (Marines and Tau, mostly) and WFB (Beastmen, Daemons and now some Warriors...).

To quote, I'm a teetotaling, lemonsucking f-tard, so mines normally a J20...

See you all soon,
-Tom.
I'm Sam, nice to meet you all!
I play Warhammer, both 40k and WFB, playing the funnest of fun armies, the Orks, in 40k, and the more sinister Vampire Counts in WFB. I also have a Death Guard army bumming around somewhere, and some crusty old daemons to back them up.
Fraid i dunnae drink the alcohol, but a coke would do fine Big Grin
Hello boys and girls! I'm Tim, you'll have seen me (again) recently shuffling round by the door or hiding in the corner playing Necromunda - I'm the one with the ginger beard and the big stupid holes in my ears. I'm usually clutching a pint of Guinness which I drink way too quickly.

I've been playing GW games for about seventeen or eighteen years (yikes!). I love Necromunda and play it fairly frequently as it's one of the finest GW systems produced. I play 40k and have a pretty big and pretty ludicrous Witch Hunter army (eight Inquisitors ftw!) and a smaller Black Templars force. I also have a Vostroyan-based IG army on the way, which I'm hoping to have finished by the end of this year.

I have a Nurg'l Mortals army for Warhammer (which I haven't played for many many years, sadly) and both Halflings and Amazons for BloodBowl.

I love John Blanche, and tend to be more bothered about narrative in games: I'm really not that bothered about winning (well, not all the time).

Hmm, that's that, I think.

Oh, some of you may know me from Warseer (I'm ThousandPlateaus).

Well, that's an abridged version of my old introduction: you'll have noticed that I've not been about much, but I'm not dead, just sleeping. Life's been inordinately busy, but I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things again. If you know of anywhere hosting a Dark Heresy campaign in London, could you let me know, and also, get your Necromunda thinking-caps back on as I may have a narrative campaign lined up for the new year for those interested.

There you go.
Howdy, I'm Nick - user name kind of gives that one away I guess. It's the interweb equivalent of sewing my name into my clothes so I don't forget who I am.

So, I play 40k only, I've been tempted to start up a WFB army but none of the races really grab me in the same way that the shooty zapguns of 40k do. Dark Elves maybe. I'd also like to try Necromunda and Warmachine / Hordes but that's just more systems to be rubbish at, so I'm focusing on one thing at a time! I've been playing since back in Rogue Trader (and 2nd Ed WFB) days. I used to be big into Blood Bowl in the first couple of editions, but lost interest around the time that you stopped being able to just ignore the ball and outright attack your opponents Wink

For 40k I've got a stupid amount of Marines, currently about 50-60% painted up as Dark Angels (c.15,000 points or so at last count, including most of the Deathwing, Ravenwing, and 3rd Battle Company). I'm strongly considering making a new Codex Marines army, Mentors Chapter. They're DA Green with white arms and legs, and red for cloth like capes/loin cloths etc. There's a sample in the new Codex, they look pretty smart IMO. Their fluff is that they're the techy test-bed Chapter who tries out new equipment bodged together by the Mars Adeptus Mechanicus, on their 'Elite Cadre' squads (their equivalent of Sternguard / Vanguard Veterans). I think this fits my idea of an infantry-heavy all-Deep Strike army.

I also play Dark Eldar, and have around 3000 points of them. Unfortunately you sort of hit a wall with DE as there are so few viable unit choices in the Codex. The only way to make them competitive seems to be spamming Incubi, Warriors with Lances, and Ravagers. It can be as effective as a double Lash Prince list, but is also about as interesting! Roll on the rumoured update next year...!

Anyway, that's me. I'm usually about every Tuesday and drink Hoegaarden (sp?). I also play most Thursdays at Clapham Wargamers, but struggle to find opponents for 40k. If anyone fancies a game up there let me know and I'll book a table.
And somewhat belatedly...

I'm Eddie, otherwise known as Fatso. I think the profile thingy says so.

Principly a 40K player though I only started in March (I used to play Fantasy back in the day when it was Undead), but I have Marine armies and Eldar, though the amount of tweaking I'm doing to my present 1500 pointer means that I'll have about 5000 pts worth of the skinny b'tards before long. Marines are the real joy of my shelf space, with roughly 4000 of own chapter and 2500 Dark Angels. Not much, but getting there!

Hoping to get back into Fantasy with a (free!) Empire army, Wood Elves and Vampire Counts. Though now I just want Warriors of Chaos because they looked so damned funky!
Hey, I'm Ben. You might know me from such places and events as Games Workshop Kensington, the Warmachine table, and the great Eldar and Ork model massacre of 2006. Beware xenos scum, I'm coming to get you... :V

I play mainly 40k, in which I'm a power armour enthusiast. There are few power armoured armies I haven't had some experience with so on any given day you might see me playing regular Space Marines, Blood Angels, Grey Knights, Chaos Space Marines or even Sisters of Battle if I can find the resources to invest in said army. I also play Warmachine (Llaelese Mercenaries) and Hordes (Legion of Everblight), and if you're ever around the Warmachine table you might have the chance to witness the decade's most amusing and entertaining spectacle: me getting thrashed. I'm also a great lover of fluff and am happy to discuss the finer points of any of my chosen systems (and Fantasy, I know stuff about Fantasy too), just give me a tap on the shoulder.

As for drinks, I usually go for Kronenbourg or Guinness, or just a plain old Diet Coke if I'm not in the mood.
Hey all,

just joined and will be attending the club tomorrow (as long as I don't get lost in the vagaries of the London Transport System...)

Been gaming for 14 years now, worked for the evil empire (AKA GW) for three of those... good times.

These days I play Epic (Vostroyans) and lots of Warmachine (Cryx).
I also dabble in Confrontation and pretty much anything else that crosses my path.

Looking forward to meeting lots of new folks and impressing them with my ability to roll nothing but ones...

Drink of choice is Cider I'm afraid, due to the vast periods of my life spent in the west country. oooh arrrrr.

Catch you all soon.

dancingmonkey aka Jon. (you might know me from other forums so say hey!)
Hi to all!
My name is arion and i just moved to london from Greece.
I have being playing 40k for several years.
Im new to this town so im getting to know where everything is now.
I have come armed with a large amount of tyranids about 7 to 8000 points including titans and forgeworld models.
As well as some necrons.
Looking forward to meeting the gamers of london and the cross gaming club, and to start playing some games!
see you guys soon.
Hi my name is Conrad EJ Gonsalves.

6 years ago, I started a club up in East London - Wanstead called Tanelorn Wargames Club(http://www.tanelornwgc.org 6pm-10pm every Sunday, nearest tube Wanstead - Central Line, main line is Manor Park - from Liverpool St). The reason I started it up was because there just was no clubs around that accepted players who played GW games. Most of the clubs were a little snobbish and frowned on GW games and in the main were purely historical/conventional wargamers. Its so good that GW and wargaming has become a more accepted swear words in these sorts of communities. They've only been going 25+ years!!

Some of you may know me from either play testing (yes go look in the VC army book and Dark Elves book more recently), some of you may know me from running the WPS (aka Warhammer Players Society until GW decided to have a go at us for IP infringement!) who run the Club Challenge and other tournaments up and down the country for the last 10 years, some of you may not know me at all. Basically I've been in the hobby since I was 13/14 so as I'm 46 this year thats a long time!

I found out about you guys when Marcus Steffen tried registering on our club forum. So I'm interested in what you guys do at the club in terms of game systems, cost to play, membership etc and what sort of gear you have at the club in terms of tables/terrain. Marcus and I have started a dialogue up about an interclub challenge type thing and I think this is a great idea for 2 London based clubs. I'm especially interested in the club as Tuesday is a home working day for me and the prospect of playing games in a club and drinking appeal to me greatly!!

Any way rambling on too much now. Will wait to here from guys here and from Marcus.
Hello all, I am Marcus, aka mangustheix on other forums, and I have popped down to play a few times. At the moment I am taking part (or trying to when time permits) in the little warmachine paint and play league which is going on. I also have a Chaos Space Marine army, Imperial Guard, Beasts of Chaos and Ogres. I also dabble in Necromunda (go Goliaths!), Bloodbowl (sneaky Skaven) and most other GW Specialist games. When I am down at the club mine is either a Corona, or an Orange Juice, depending on hard the day has been.

Hello Conrad, glad to see you visiting, but better not let your club know, they'll think your a traitor! Wink

I haven't been coming to the club that long, but here at Cross we play most games. There is a very strong 40k section, which also does tournaments together. There is also quite a few fantasy players, along with Necromunda (very popular, but out of campaign season at the moment), Epic, Warmachine/Hordes, Infinity, Avatars of War, Legends of the Old West, and probably more besides.

If you want to come down your best to speak to one of the commitee members (Minus_T is the most active on the forums, along with Nick). You are more than welcome to pop your head in if you want though, we do have the bonus of a bar upstairs! I am sure the Tournament players would be up for a face off between the two clubs.
FYI, I've played WFB since 1st edition. Currently my fave games are Hordes/Warmachine - I've not played a game that I have loved so much EVER in my life - this game is just so awesome. I also love Flames of War - WW2 wargaming, fastplay system based on 40k. I used to dabble in 40k and still have a Necron army. I've pretty much played every GW game out there apart from BF Gothic. I want to get in to Aeronautica Imperialis which I hear very good things about. Gonna get the rule book soon.

Love GWs skirmish games - Necromunda, Mordheim. Have played WAB as well as I love the Greek/Macedonian/Persian era of history.

I'm the chairman of the WPS. I'm the Chairman of Tanelorn. I wont be seen as a traitor. It would be nice to go to a club where I dont need to do any thing other than play games and drink beer!!
Well, I've been a member for two weeks and have already paid my subs.

Cost is £20 for life membership. A table costs £3 a night. I'm a big PP player these days, 14 years of GW including three as a staffer ground me down and PP have really hit the nail on the head with WM.

We've got a good size group playing WM, they are running a system of 350 pt forces, then 500 after a month and so forth, so its a good excuse to get me painting a new force (shameless plug, please check my Goreshade force WIP in the painting threads...) I'm keen to start running proper WM events (with tourney prizes etc... want more badges and the chance to shoot for gold cards Smile) and I'd love to partake in the Escalation campaign at some point.

Would be good to meet up for a chat next Tuesday if you are interested. Plus I'm always looking for more clubs to join (been in London for five weeks now and loving the availability of foes to play), so what's the WM scene like there? I'd like to raise my game and get some hardcore tourney exp so if you get a lot of that style play in that would interest me no end.

Cheers.

Jon.
Jon - we've run our own Hordes/WM events at Tanelorn (last one was 26th Oct where we had 20 players attend - 4 from Cardiff!!). I believe the Hordes/WM scene is slowly growing in the UK. I've been to a fair few one dayers this year - Canterbury, our own, probably heading to Cardiff at the end of Nov, Bury St Edmunds, Gencon and ofc the 2 day UK Nationals event at Brum in May - that was a hoot and so good cos it was a 2 dayer so you get to socialise with some of the players who you only met briefly at the one day event last year.

Theres another club in Enfield - Ponders End but I am fairly sure they meet on a Tuesday as well.

Will see how it pans out but am painting like a daemon as I am taking part in the Golden Troll two one day events at Chorley in Lancs - day one Hordes/WM, day two Flames of War - heaven.

Know what you mean re GW games btw and totally agree with you re PP. Some of the guys at the club have also started to get in to Monsterpocalypse. I havent played yet - I'm avoiding it at present but I hear very good things about the game system itself.

I hear from others that have attended the club that there are a fair few EpicA players there.

Mon poc is great. Sadly I am unemployed at the mo and can't invest heavily, but I have the core set and a booster and have been having fun with that. Too many good games, too little time.

Will have an investigate and see if I can start attending your club too. A chance to travel for PP events and raise my game sounds too good... I play in a little tourney every few months down in Maidstone, and I have heard about the Canterbury one (I studied in Maidstone so am fairly familiar with the area). but further afield sounds great.

Hopefully we will see you next tues?

Regards.

Jon.
Hi guys, been away for a while, and dropped in on the old site for a nosey, and got bombarded with some downloader virus, thank Grungi for Norton Anti virus.

Anyhow now I've registered on this site I just though I say hi, again.

Hopefully, one day I'll be able to get a Tuesday evening off so I can come to the club my dwarves need some exercise, work and married life tend to get in the way.
Hey guys,

I'm Matt. I moved down to London just over 3 weeks ago after leaving uni and starting work. I've been down to the club one evening in the middle of October to see what goes on; I might have chatted to you then. I'll be down tomorrow evening, again to say hi!

I've been gaming 10-11 years now. Army wise, my biggest is about 10k of Dark Angels, whilst other 40k armies are Necrons, Nids and Daemons (which can be used in fantasy too!). Fantasy wise, its all Chaos (mortal and daemons)!!! I also love a good bloodbowl match, and also have some Mordheim. I've also recently turned my hand to epic. I've also got a big Uruk Hai army for LoTR (if any of you guys play it; I think its underrated).

If you fancy a game, let me know!

Finally, I'm looking to get a DH campaign sorted with Tim (he's created a thread for it here: - http://www.crossgamingclub.com/forum/sho...php?tid=74 ), so if you're interested, let either of us know!
I'm Chris, I'm in and out of the UK, when I am in I'm down (car less still Conrad) Woolwich way. I mostly play Epic and whatever multi player games are going on, mostly historical it seems in one form or another. I currently attend a club on Tuesdays in a pub called the cock tavern in Euston (what is it with Tuesdays?) but occassionaly drop by in the hope its a quiet night and a table is free!
Hello everyone,

Well I am back. Been away for a while and not been very well so now I am back in the country and more healthy... so I shall be making an appearance sometime soon. Still got my Ultramarines and my own chapter hanging about so soon as they get organaised I will offer someone a game. Happy new year to you all.
