Bit of an odd one this, but I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knows...
While playing Vish last night, at one point I wanted to move parts of my Woldstalker unit, whilst having several other members of the unit forfeit their movement to aim.
Vish said that I couldn't do this, either they all forfeited or they all didn't. As it happens, it made absolutely no difference at all to the game, as I had forgotten that manhunters have stealth (stupid manhunters).
However, as it's always nice to know why I can't do something, I went looking for this rule. I can't seem to find anywhere in the rules or FAQs that says a unit must move (or not) as a whole.
The only thing I can find on the subject is "When you activate a unit, you are simulating that its members movement and actions occur simultaneously even though each model moves and acts individually... ...Troopers can move in any order, but they must be in formation after all troopers have completed their movement" (Prime:Remix, p36, Moving Units)
Anyone help?

Not one I've encountered, maybe Vish was thinking of 40K?

aiming bonus is model by model according to this rules thread.
So yes, some could advance and shoot while others could stand still, aim and shoot.
I was sure it was, if one model moved the rest couldn't forfeit their movement to shoot. As the unit moves as a whole. I will put the query up in the PG rules forum. Sorry for the conundrum guys.

Don't take this the wrong way Vish, but it seems clear. Aiming bonus ain't an order so it isn't unit wide. The link (from the PP rules forum) provides a clear ruling in favour of Tom which is how I think it should have been played last night.
Will be interesting to see if you get a different answer from the boards though.

Sorry if I messed your shooting up Tom, I think it was to do with the Woldstalkers firing on the Risen to get the Concerted Fire bonus up and then fire into the core of my force later. If you had been able to move while getting the increased RAT I'm thinking a lot more shots could have come Dyslexia's way.

It's cool Tom, I just don't like fluffing up rules. And the results are in, Mootaz (Infernal) replied saying your models that forfeited their movement would have got the bonus. Sorry about that mate, maybe being beat by the Police Sunday night, then kept in a cell through to Monday afternoon and then coming to the game done me in.
Maybe if you took a Blackclad, you could have used Storm Bacon to LOS for charges?
