I figured it would be cool if we could try and keep track of how peoples games went over the league, so we can discuss how games were etc etc...

I guess it's only right for me to go first, as it's my idea:

Circle vs. Skorne, 750...
eKaya vs. eMakeda, Unlikely Alliance, on map 6.

I took:
eKaya
+Laris
+Pureblood Warpwolf
+Warpwolf
+Shadowhorn Satyr
+Woldwyrd
6 Wolves of Orboros
+Wolves of Orboros UA
War Wolf
9 Bloodtrackers
Blackclad Wayfarer
6 Farrow Bone Grinders
Viktor Pendrake

Andres used (I think... correct me if I'm wrong!):
eMakeda
+Molik Kharn
+Cyclops Savage
+Cyclops Savage
+Basilisk Krea
4 Paingivers
6 Praetorians
+Praetorian UA
5 Cataphract Cetrati
3 Ferox Cavalry
Void Spirit
Void Spirit
Soulward Extoller

Basically, the game was pretty stand-offish for 2 turns (after a first turn Ambuscade from the Bloodtrackers failing to kill Molik), with my Circle not wanting to get drawn into the debuffs and counter-attacks that make a Skorne army so scary, and my opponent not wanting to get utterly owned by Kaya's traditional yo-yo of doom...
On turn 3 I thought I had it set up perfect.
I ran Laris down a flank, intending to feat with Kaya, port her over to him, then kill a huge swathe of Skorne infantry and then outflank the survivors.
Unfortunately, I miscalculated my fury, and after casting Virility twice, I didn't have enough left to port over to Laris. Oops.
I then had to make the best of it, and managed to (just) kill the entire Praetorian unit, although nothing I had intended worked at all (there wasn't room to get a trample in, the Satyr couldn't jump anywhere useful, the Wolves with mini-feat failed to kill the Officer by 1 damage point (I rolled a 1, 1, 2, 4 on damage from 4 dice...), the War Wolf had his attack nullified by Makeda's Stay Death ability... Erk!). Luckily a Bloodtracker was able to get a charge off at him and kill him in my last activation, otherwise her feat would have undone all my hard work...

This meant I was stuck in a bit of a lump, my 3 heavys surrounding Kaya, but beset on all sides by Skorne (Ferox, a Savage, Molik...).
The Pureblood managed to take Molik down despite Fate Ward with a sneaky bit of Virility and Ferocity (+2 to attack rolls, and re-roll missed attacks), thus closing off all Makeda's transfer targets...
Luckily Makeda had had to come forward to keep the beasts in Control, so I still had hope... Laris ran up next to her, and the rest of my army concentrated on killing my injured Warpwolf, so I could steal it's strength for Kaya. Unfortunately I couldn't roll for toffee, and finally had to resort to Kaya putting the poor thing out of it's misery...
Then she ported over to Laris, and couldn't quite finish the deal, spending all her fury and achieving not much. In hind-sight, I should have hit once, then camped it.

Makeda's Krea frenzied, eating a Cetrati (ha ha!), thus denying any major debuffs on Kaya...
Makeda laid in with all her might, missing her first attack (needing 11s) [1 fury], hitting her second [2 fury], hitting her third [4 fury], and crucially, missing her fourth [6 fury]. Had either of the misses connected, Kaya would have been pretty dead, but luckily she weathered the storm with 4 wounds left.
The rest of the Skorne army piled in, trying to land the death-blow, but Laris' presence made Kaya nigh-impossible to hit...

Kaya leached from her beasts (although the Shadowhorn frenzied and smashed the Blackclad into little mushy pieces), and added up the models she was in melee with... Makeda, 2 Cetrati, and 2 Paingivers.
So, at +4 to hit, and +4 to damage, she took Makeda down in 3 swift blows...

Game, Circle!

-Tom.
Wow, that sounds awesome and epic! So many frenzies ending up with the death of friendly models! If that last Praetorian hadn't died her feat would have made a massive dent. Well done on going all out to cane his units. Big Grin

Lists:
I'm gonna write up my game with Jon. I'll start with my idea behind the list. After taking eVlad against eMorghoul last Summer Rampage, I wanted to see him in action against other casters. I dropped Drago and added in a unit of IFP with UA while eating breakfast this morning.

Here's my list:
Faction: Khador
Points: 746
Model Count: 40
Victory Points: 26

Vladimir Tzepesci, Dark Champion
Man-O-War Drakhun
> Man-O-War Drakhun (Dismounted)
Manhunter
Manhunter
Yuri the Axe
Great Bears of Gallowswood [3]
Iron Fang Pikemen [8] (2 added)
> Iron Fang Officer and Standard Bearer [2]
Kayazy Assassins [8] (2 added)
> Kayazy Assassins Underboss [1]
Man-O-War Demolition Corps [5] (2 added)
Man-O-War Demolition Corps [5] (2 added)
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt [2]

I built it to maximise the melee synergy of Transference with the high model count and plenty of targets for Blood Legacy. Every non-character Khador model in the list is on the good end of melee ability. MAT 7-8 is the average with IFP being low with 6.

Here's Jon's list (Sorry if I got anything wrong.)
Faction: Cryx
Points: 720
Model Count: 10
Victory Points: 22

Master Necrotech Mortenebra
> Deryliss
> Cankerworm
> Defiler
> Nightwretch
> Nightwretch
> Stalker
> Harrower
> Nightmare
> Slayer

It's got a lot of synergy and I see some awesome moves by I couldn't help thinking the Deathjack instead of the Slayer and maybe some Bile Thralls would have been helpful.

Setup:
I let Jon set up first as I needed to see how he would place his forces and deploy accordingly. He deployed on the centre line of the field. Knowing that I had a numerical advantage and his resources would be limited I opted for a refused flank. It gave me time to contest the objective while saving my flanks from harassment and forcing his dangerous jacks into movements towards my centre. Knowing that Mortenebra and Nightmare had access to the ability to go/give Ghostly (Moving through buildings and terrain, no Free Strikes) I decided not to deploy on the right side of the field as it would adversely effect my charges. The second reason I opted to fight from an angle was the fact that guessing charge ranges is harder when your opponents models are at diagonals to your view point.

Advance Deploy:
I advanced deployed Yuri in the Trench in front of my lines as a sort of ward and buffer. In actual fact he was there to act as nuisance and to threaten rather than actually do damage. My Manhunters were deployed back towards my lines as I would require them on my feat turn. Jon placed his Cankerworm forward of his lines but no more than 8" ahead.

Round 1:
Jon pushed his models forward as they got upkeeps cast on them (Spectral Steel on Nightmare) and advanced quickly forward to the centre line. Nightmare chose Vladimir as his Prey. It seemed like movement was hampered by the threat of Yuri and the Cryx Jack line kept a careful distance.

I moved my forces circumventing the trenches in my way by splitting my forces. I took one unit of Demolition Corps (Ghetto Squad) north towards the line with the Drakhun while the majority of my forces would move into position to smash into Jon's forces on the centre line. Vladimir cast Transference this turn and as soon as his activation ended, Nightmare moved into position in front of my lines. Yuri moved into the Trenches to threaten a larger area.

Round 2:
Jon put Death Race on the Harrower with Deryliss, allowing him to move a single model in his battle group if it killed something. After casting Terminal Velocity, Mortenebra moved closer to the line and the Harrower fired a shot at Yuri but I was out of range by about 2-3" and deviated backwards to no effect. Nightmare moved forward as did the Slayer.

After seeing Jon being very cagey with his forces I decided to shove a lot of models into his face. I made my Demolition Corps move dangerously closer on both flanks. Kayazy Assassins hung back to the south waiting to move closer with Kill Stroke on the next turn. Jon moved Nightmare after Vladimir had finished his activation into a very dangerous position. Unfortunately for Jon, Yuri hadn't activated yet and this Prey movement meant he was able to charge Nightmare and generally got in the way with his big axe.

Round 3:
Jon started his turn by giving Death Race to Nightmare from Deryliss. Terminal Velocity and Recalibration in conjunction with Nightmare's highly damaging claws meant that he was able to eviscerate Yuri (Triggering the Slayer to move) and then move onto attacking and killing a member of the Demo Corps (Prep Squad). The Slayer charged another member of the Demo Corps (Prep Squad) and killed him with a savage Combo Strike. Cankerworm charged a member of the Demo Corps (Ghetto Squad) and killed him but was in turn counter charged by the Drakhun thanks to the ability Cavalry Charge which allows him to ignore models of equal size or less than his charge target for LOS. Tall in the Saddle allowed him to attack over the doomed Demo Corp member and this kept the Cankerworm from using Scuttle. The Stalker slammed a member of the demo corps in the north into one of his brethern in an attempt to take models away from the objective line. The Defiler sprayed the wrong Demo Corp model with Corrosion but the Cankerworm's target was dead any way. Finally the Harrower attempted to charge the embattled northern Demo Corp unit (Ghetto Squad) but it's charge fell short by about 2".

My turn was to cause as much havoc in the Cryx battle lines as I could. I started my turn by activating my Kayazy Assassins using Kill Stroke and running them past Nightmare and the Slayer in an attempt to hem the Nightmare in by a couple inches. Next I activated Vladimir and moved him so every Khadoran model would be able to benefit from Transference while I could choose the best targets for Blood Legacy. I rolled 4 targets total so I selected the Drakhun, one Manhunter, and two members of the Demo Corps (One in Ghetto Squad and one in Prep Squad). Nightmare moved back with it's Prey move (Something that in hindsight would have been illegal due to the stipulation that it must end it's prey move closer to it's target) but a lone Kayazy (Boromir) hampered it's movement enough to keep it within charge range of one Blood Legacied Demo Corp. The Great Bears then charged between Nightmare and the Harrower and smashed it with use of Transference and then damaged the Nightmare slightly. The Demo Corps charged (Prep Squad) Nightmare and the Slayer. Nightmare was disabled by the attack of the Blood Legacied Demo Corp member (but not wrecked) and the Slayer was very savagely injured. A Blood Legacy Manhunter then finished off the slayer, while to the north the Demo Corps (Ghetto Squad) attacked and killed the Cankerworm and the Stalker allowing the Drakhun to be freed up to move up and attack the Nightwretch and Defiler, both were heavily damaged in the assault even though the Drakhun rolled only three for it's attacks (including the one it got from Blood Legacy). The turn was ended by my Iron Fangs rushing to fill the gap infront of Vlad and every one else keeping around him in case the Nightmare were to be fixed by Mortenebra.

Round 4:
Montenebra was just out of repair range of the Nightmare but unfortunately if she was able to fix it she would have been unable to allocate it focus to allow it to Trample up to Vladimir. So instead Deryliss put Death Race Montenebra and she charged the lone Kayazy (Boromir). Her first attack missed as did her second and her third attack hit and killed him. This triggered a lone Nightwretch with Ghostly on it from Mortenebra to advance into my lines and she then attempted to cast Doom Spiral at Vladimir but it missed.

I used the Kayazy Assassins to gang and then killed Deryliss with some help from Transference. One of the Demo Corps charged the remains of the Nightmare and made it into a wreck. The Great Bears charged Mortenebra and with help from Transference, killed her.

After thoughts:
It was a pretty intense game, I remember quite a lot of it in quite vivid detail. Alot of my dice rolls on melee damage rolls were quite poor but I managed to increase the chances of hits with almost all major melee attacks within my control area with the use of Transference. What an excellent spell. Also for the second time I used Blood Legacy to attack and destroy key targets were as most people use it to assassinate their enemy. I prefer the assassination run but killing your opponents own key assassination models is more important in the long run. Good game. Big Grin

Hope this gives you guys a good look into the inside of my mind while I play and the way I view the battle. It essentially boils down to using the terrain to the maximum I can, use your strong models against your opponents weak points, aim to over match superior models with superior maneuverability and grind your opponent down as each casualty in their elite centric force is a larger blow to them. Cheers.
