I think most of us will be down on tuesday. I know I will, Chris, Nick, Luke
I can give you a hand on Monday if you need one? I can cycle up, so won't need to get into the van.

That would be awsome, I have dug out and old handset so i'll be back on the phone today.

Sorry, chaps, unfortunately not able to give a hand on Monday. Too much work on the plate...
Look forward seeing you in our new premises

So he did!
My mistake.

If so, I'd like to book a table in the second session for me and yellowduck, please. We'll be playing 40k.
Thanks muchly!
Craig.
Check out the new challenge thread. Yellowduck beat you to it.
Right, tonight is the move.
Anyone that can make it along to help out meet at the Bell and Compass for 7.30
I’ll head along straight after work so if anyone else want to have a beer while we wait for everyone to arrive give me a shout.
Regards,
Chris
Hurrah to a bigger venue, closer to work!
Now my little'un is sleeping through the night, and it won't take me an hour and a half to get home, I may just be allowed a pass...
Will be my first session tonight but the venue is much more handy for me than the B&C, so it gets my thumbs up. Hopefully get to meet some of you tonight.
Cheers,
Rob
Sorry not to be able to make it last night. What did people think of the venue?
I definitely liked it; great atmosphere, friendly staff, good beer and food.
Tho I've only been to the B&C twice, I can see a few improvements: St Christopher's is well lit whereas the Bell was quite dim, and the whole room is better oriented here - completely separate from the rest of the pub, no people wandering about, has it's own store room and loos.
And knowing that the manager is a gamer himself is just the cherry on the top.

man, I am gutted that I didn't make it down last night. I am looking forward to next week though. Should be a good time.

While the dimness gave the B&C a certain charm it made reading the tiny print on my warmachine cards pretty uncomfortable. So I am liking the sound of this.
I thought it went very well on the whole. From a business point of view, the first drink that someone bought made it worthwhile; but from a different perspective I felt pride in having you all there - and that's the kicker for me. I'm looking forward to feedback from everyone who was down there, but at least four people I spoke to were very enthusiastic.
The set-up would only get better (and easier) with the new tables, and our excess of chairs will hopefully be reduced soon.
We can leave the pros as they are and ideally fix the cons. Let me know.
I loved it

I staggered home lol
Naturally, I'm biased, but I much preferred the new venue - better beer, friendly staff, better space - and I think once the best layout is worked out and the new tables start to arrive, I think it'll be even better.
If you want some recommendations, though, I think it could be a little brighter, maybe.

the beer is def a winning aspect for me. Quality real ales.
Early feedback has been really positive . Much nicer vibe than the B&C . Also noticed the air was a lot cooler - in the summer B&C got somewhat sweaty..... More space for us wander between tables and plenty of seating to chill out in. Tasty food as well. New tables and new sceanery will make our club the best one around! Massive bonus having as landlord who is also a gamer!

The bulbs in there are only 40w if I recall correctly. I'll get at least the ones above tables swapped out for 60w ones.
Great venue - a bit further for me to get to, but worth it. I think its more of an old fashioned pub with character rather than the bell + compass which is a bit more city boy-ish - its much better having the feel of a pub with character if you're playing fantasy (or even 40k)!
Swapping the bulbs would be great - it was slightly dim - although not at all problematic.
Please don't get rid of too many chairs though - I like the fact that I can go down, sit in a leather chair like Don Corleone and adjudicate peoples games :-)

Aye we aim to keep all the lounge chairs, its the dining chairs which were all stacked away that we hope to reduce.
Should give us a fair bit more space to play with
