Hi all,

Just been pondering what my inevitable second forces would be ( first for Hordes ), and thought why not ask you guys what your secondary forces were, and why you decided to choose that particular force.

Im aware some of you will have more than 2 forces/armies, but im only wondering about thesecond force that you game with, as im kinda stuck.

Im playing Khador as my main force, and am very tempted by Cryx as my second, although i do like the Cygnar mini's.......Confused

For Hordes, my main force was going to be Circle, but i think im going with Trollbloods now after seeing the Grim Agnus mini, hes AWESOME! However, i REALLY dig the Skorne mini's, so now im not sure if i should choose Skorne or Circle......help!
It depends on what you like the look of, and what fighting style you like. Cryx have a whole suite of crazy tricks and really aggressive, high speed models. Cygnar has lots of varied fighting styles and are very adaptive. Circle are the guerilla assault force of the games, even more so that Cryx. They strike fast, from multiple directions and then blend away causing havoc on their way out. Trolls are the buff masters, their layered abilities and synergy makes their pretty cool looking guys into absolute monsters.

Check out the following pages for a quick spiel about the armies and links to models and tactics with them.

Cryx
Cygnar
Circle
Trollbloods

Hope this helps man, if you got any questions just post up. Big Grin
My main force is Cryx. A Denny/zombie style of play.

My secondary force is Cryx, its a Goreshade/Bane style

My third force is... Cryx. A pirate themed Skarre list.

Who needs other factions, there is still so much to cover.

Still, I might be a bit unusual in this respect Big Grin
well, i only play khador. i got some trolls but didn't like painting them, so sold them. I was thinking of starting a circle force for a fun change from khador, but then i heard that they are doing a minions book, which will let me get a gator force with wrong eye in it and i have decided to wait. I will see what they are like first, then decide on my hordes fraction. besides these armies, I am tempted to do a ranged skorne army with 3 full venator reiver units!
I think that there can be a lot to explore within one faction, especially with themed forces. But having said that I would like to start a Skorne force at some point.
Marcus, did you see they posted up concept art for one of the Farrow warlocks?
I think I would probably agree with dancingmonkey and mnky there... Having now collected almost everything in the Circle army (missing only Wolf Lord Morriag and Reeves), I feel like I have a huge selection of different types of armies and themes to pick from... And I always feel like I'm on the edge of starting a new 'themed' Circle army, painted differently to the rest of it.

Having said that, I also have a reasonable sized Cygnar army, which I picked because I liked the models a lot, and it has a distinctly different play style. Had the Retribution been around when I was starting Cygnar, I may well have gone for them instead...

In addition, I have acquired various additional armies (A friend donated to me his Skorne and Legion armies, and I have picked up a few Rhulic dudes 'cos they look awesome), and every now and then have a bash at them for a bit of a change.

I think my main point is that I would suggest sticking with one or two main armies, and once you've got close to the end of them, have a think about picking up some other stuff if you want it.
Or something.

Hmmm a few different responses there, and the one that caught my eye was using a varying force with the same Army.

Theres a fair amount for me to consider, and i wont be making any concrete decisions until after ive finished my Khador force.

Are all Armies in WM and Hordes up to date with the MK 2 rules?
All of Hordes is still running on the final PDF update from the field test (updated in march). WM is pretty much done, the Cryx book is out in a few weeks, and Mercs shortly after that...

-Tom.
I definitely agree with the guys, there's so much good shit in each army that plays differently. Saying that, I don't really do themed armies. I say, use your Khador. Eat your fill, and then move onto a light or heavy desert. I've been playing Khador for as long as I've been playing Warmachine which is 6 years. I like their cake, it's delicious. But I have found the fondants of Cygnar quite refreshing and the after dinner mints of Cryx have their own brand of delicious. To this day, I still wish I'd started with Cryx. I only found that out after using them and having a blast. Big Grin

So in short, play with Khador. And then if you want to try something else, literally try something else. Big Grin

@Diabolist Plod - Yes, I have and he looks like a gangster. I hope he's got Blood of Kings. That would rock so hard, I might do Minions. And he's a Lord, that's awesome. Big Grin
Well, I've decided that my first Hordes force will be Trollbloods.

Giant smurfs with attitude problems ftw!

Now then, when's their book out?!

As for secondary forces for WM/H I've think I've settled on Cygnar and Skorne. Though this may change!!
Trollbloods are solid and dangerous as all hell. I think their book is out sometime in september. Hordes MK2 is out in July. Big Grin

I've umming and ahhing over my second faction. I think it will have to be Skorne. I've always loved their stuff and they got a boatload of crazy tricks. Lovely. Big Grin
Y'see i think i would have chosen Skorne, if their main colour wasnt Red. I want to try and stay away from 2 armies painted the same primary colour.

Circle would be good, but they dont seem very unified as a force. To me they are a scouting party looking force.

This is tough, and i can see where i will end up with this.......
Trolls are so much fun. They just love smashing shit all over the place. Plus, their synergy is awesome. +2 to hit? Yes please. Higher Armour? Yes please. Pathfinder? Yes please. Like a toolbox of crazy shit. It's awesome.

I'm thinking of doing my Skorne in dark grey/black. Because they'd look all menacing and shit. Big Grin
Well I picked up the Trollblood starter box yesterday, and I'm in love. The models are awesome, big, detailed, chunky and fun.

Why they're called 'trolls' I'm not sure, they're features are more toad like. Which I'd LOVE just so I can rename my warlock 'Baron Greenback' : )

I can't wait to get a bomber or 2, they are great!

I think I have a mental army collection in my head, though I have to wait for the rules etc to confirm.
I love those models. I like the turkey and stuff. I guess because Trolls thematically eat loads of stuff and regenerate. But so do frogs. Big Grin

The Bomber is awesome. But then again everything they have is awesome. I love the Trolls. Big Grin
Well finally I've decided, I'm choosing to go with the Mercs as my secondary force.

I'll have to pick up the book for rules and fluff. Though I'm pretty sure old Macbain will be my warcaster.

Any tips from any merc players?
