So, here's the full list of everyone who has indicated that they want to take part in the club's Tale of x gamers - and whaddya know, there are thirteen of us. Cool, huh?
So, The Cross Council of Thirteen (as we shall now be known) are:
Tim - Nurgle WoC
Paul/Edsmasha - BoC
Talos - Skryre Skaven
TheOneYouKnow - High Elves
Bill62 - Vampire Counts
Madchen - Vampire Counts
Pete - Orcs'n'Goblins
Chris - High Elves
Micho - Nurgle WoC
LukeC - Tomb Kings
DaveRobbo - WoC
Slugpellet - Skaven
Martin G - Eshin Skaven
I'll set up a sub-forum in the Painting Forum for each of the thirteen to blog their progress from month to month.
The rules are as follows:
Each month, as of the 10th August, each player will have assembled and painted either one unit OR 200pts of their army and post up the results. That's it. If 200pts equates to a million Skaven Slaves or Goblins or something and it's looking impossible, then obviously, no-one's going to tell you off if you don't make it, this is first and foremost supposed to be fun.
First posts should be made on or about the 10th of August as this gives all players a full month after the release of the new rules just in case anyone needs to tinker with their army or, like me, they're still on the brink of deciding which army they want to collect.
There will be small tournaments as armies progress and some other bits and pieces thrown in along the way (that I'll make up as they come to me).
So, good luck - and let's see how we get on.
Yeah, of course! Start whenever you like
The deadline of the 10th of August is just to give everyone a month to pore over the new rules and fluff, build their list and then assemble their first 200pts or unit.
Resin Bases for everyone!!!....
Basicly, I've been messing with mould making for a while and recently I've gone into the world of resin casting
so If enough people are interested I propose to make up a mould for as many people as I can fit on it

If people sculpt up a few bases (ill let you know exact no.s when I know how many are up for this aprox 5 each would be ideal) Ill arange them on a mould and we can all have cool resin bases for our armies. Ill do this at a base cost for resin, filler ect split between us (it will be a lot cheaper then the bases sold online!)
Can you cast big bases? say 40(or 60)x100mm. If not what is the biggest one possible? I'm thinking 10-12 man regiment skaven bases. And how detailed should it be? I know nothing about resin casting, so just wanted to know what kind of form are you using for that (in case of undercuts and all that technical stuff).

Well that's good considering number of models I'll have.

This is all very exciting!
I've pre-ordered the new rules from Maelstrom. Used the voucher, and I had about 6 quid of money back to use too.
Yea I can go big, but want to see how many people want in on this so I can keep it to one mould, Re Detail, I didn't see things like undercuts as an issue as its a base, maybe you guys will be more creative then i anticipated

ill post some example stuff! I can deal with a small amount of undercut like a rock edge sloping inward ect just not to much like corpses littering the floor

(Skulls are fine) Ill have a measure of my master plate to get an idea of what I can do size wise
To give you an idea of what I can do...
At a pinch I could go to..

If the sculpt is like this ill need to give it a good looking over to avoid air traps and will want to do a few test casts before I commit to it
I use a polyurethane fast resin witch holds the detail quite nicely without expensive de-gassing equipment, I usually keep costs down with a filler additive like micro beads but if everyone goes for heavy detail I will have to leave that out, it will however raise the cost a bit as filler makes the resin go about 40% further.
I think it best we base the master on gw bases and keep to within its edges so as I can maximise the No. of bases I can fit on it.
If you take a look at the second pic it over hangs at the sides, if we avoid this I can fit more on and it reduces ranking up issues.
the overall plate is 380mm x 230mm
If we can all agree on a sculpt we could have an official Cross Club base!, then we can do more sizes like monster base and chariot base even 40k bases!
this sounds so cool, i have been looking at getting some bases for the last two weeks, but i just couldnt bring myself to buy any.
Just realised I'll need a lot of magnets and so I have simple question. Where do you get yours? Do you have any trusted source with resonably priced magnets?
Thx a lot, still one more question: how do you mount them (super glue?) and how strong magnets should I buy? I don't want magnets to stay on the tray and be able pick up the miniture only 'because the magnet was to strong'
EDIT:
I was thinking about this: 12.7mm wide x 1.5mm thick Magnetic tape - it's 1m long so will least for long and is self adhesive, so no glue needed. What do you think?
what are you guys using the magnets for?
It's pretty cheap to get rare earth magnets of various sizes on ebay
I need them for magnetic trays. While I have my trays ready and painted I'd rather not buy new metal ones. That's why I'm trying to figure something out - and I have no idea about magnetic trays and stuff like that.

Take a look at OG Games. They do magnetic basing packs including the magnets and sheets of (I think) rubberised metal to place over the inside area of the bases. Easy to cut and use, and I know a couple of guys who've done entire Skaven or O&G armies with it.
Take a look here:

So does that one I linked above (first4magnets). So you're pretty spoilt for choice now lol
List making: it's become an obsession!

I'm waiting till i've got the core rules - then its list time

.... knowing me of cool things I 'need' to add to my lizards or Bretts

I made a 2000pt list a while ago which has all the units I like.
I will need to rethink my character choices as having lots of lvl 2 wizards is not as good any more now you have a 2d6 magic dice pool
Also not sure my 20 man slave units will work with redirect now you get a free reform if you win.
Then there is the problem that I am liking the look of a Tzeentch WOC army.
Just need to work out the pros and cons of each.
