Have been given a night of from what was a compulsory dinner party by the GF and can finally sit down and get a regiment of skeletons built, painted and based.
(been trying to find a tactful way of saying -sorry do not want to do couples night out, as have important project work to undergo. Luckily other lads condemned to the same dinner party have bailed thus it became a girls night. Terrible shame of course.... and i did mention that I will somehow soldier on)
Have got Blade Runner and Star Trek (new movie) for company. Some glue, paint and a curry already booked.
Will post hopefully pics fully painted unit of 16 tonight – or of some empty curry trays.
Good times
you are a very lucky devil
Good luck mate!

Have fun with your skellies!
managed only 8 fully painted and the other 8 basecaoted and washed! The shields took a lot longer than i thought - only another 72 to go .......
Still need to base which wil lnot take to long
Next session now not until tom night off to Lovebox festival :-)

I thought about going to lovebox as it's right near me and free (for me)... but not sure I can be bothered. Not a lot on that I really wanted to see. The other rock one in victoria park looks more for me

They had a free festival in there about a month ago, that was wicked... very chilled out in the sun. Nice jerk chicken with rice and peas and a big fat dumpling!

mmm
Luke, I've got one of your Dark Elves (Corsair I think?) from last night. I'll bring it along next week if you're about. N
ah nice one fella! thank you.
Have finished one 16 man regiment of skels will post a pic soon -with command and a magic banner takes me up to 200 points.....
Instead of my usual manner of building everything at once. Doing a unit at time painting it and then moving on to the next regiment as a reward. 16 skelies is tiny for undead but a start- now going to build and paint a unit of 3 chariots, then unit of 16 bowman (these will be super fast done as no shields !!) - followed by another 16 skelies . Will treat myself to a Liche priest for a painted reward last and that is a good core solid block to start with
As now thinking that 2500 is the norm for army totals - will def have a bone giant and a casket of souls :-) cause they are great looking models!
those skellies look rad.
Nice.
1st regiment done! ( well one third of a regiment done....) bad pics though I'm afraid as my camera is dying (always seems very dark no matter the light source) so that is 184 points down (with command and magic standard) , 2316 to go.... will do two more skelies to get that first magic 200 points under the belt
Also built a unit of chariots . Though next painting chance is not till Sunday night

After Tim’s truely excellent start to is blog, I feel i need to up my game with the vernacular! Will be working on a narrative in addition to the usual progress updates. My army ideas are all coming from movies mainly The Mummy , Indi Futurama (the one where bender becomes Pharaoh ) et al
Have had the weekend free from most distractions (ie Gf away with the gals!) and have now completed a chariot unit, scarab unit and a liche priest. Also based everything and even applied verdigirs to all the modals in the army!
Army now stands at 650ishpoints (including magic goodies) . About to start on a unit of 16 bowman and add another 14 spearman . Once they are done will treat myself to a bone giant and another liche priest.

These look awesome. Great work, Luke. (Thanks for the compliment, too).
Looking great there Luke, really impressed. and your making good progress too
Thought would show the stages for the next segment of the army and ideas on what the army itself is going to be.
Built and undercoated yesterday - unit of archers, chariots and priest on horseback. Am using army painter leather undercoat spray. Skeles and horses to be washed completely with devlen mud afore dry brushing bone, these will then be given a very watered down wash to tone down the bone colour. Chariots are base coated with colour then washed with devlen mud afore colour reset and highlights etc (see a trend here.... - surely the best GW paint product!!!!!) Same with the priest - fully washed after base colours. [/u]
hope to have these units done over next 2 weeks . THEN the bone giant
As the giant will be a centrepiece will be putting a lot of time into converting the pose etc . Standard one is a little bow legged for my liking - going to make it a lot more dynamic - kinda like this :

For the casket of souls . Love this model and no need to monkey around with it . Really looking forward to spending 2 weeks painting it
Core units will be as per the box they came in. Hoping the "en masse" effect will be good enough!
The character models are great as they are so no need to make them any flasher.

after many ,many, MANY re-dos -(finally decided i want as many of the units in the book as possible in the army - only missing the heavy cavalry which seem bit pointless IMHO ) the final 2500 list wil be :
Tomb King
H Liche priest (undercoated)
Liche priest/ w casket of souls
Liche priest (fully painted and based)
Ushabti x 3
Skeleton Warriors x 30 (spear) (16 fully painted and based)
Skeleton Warriors x 30 (bow) (16 built undercoated , washed)
Chariots x 3 (fully painted and based)
Chariots (built undercoated , washed)
Light Horseman x 5
bone giant
scarabs x 4 (fully painted and based)
Tomb Scorpion
Okay... I'm pretty far behind lol
Careful Luke, armies are only 2000 points. You might need to have a rethink (again).
oh balls . well screw it will still aim for 2500 points and then take 2000 points from that!

ha ha but i am cheating and using an army that can be dry brushed with abandon. Reckon the pace will slow right down when start doing sexier units. Bone Giant alone will take a month as want to do something special
I am really impressed, that is a lot of progress you have made, and a lot of good painting. it is all really neat and the army already looks great
I'll second that... i'm well impressed
