I thought you guys would be the best people to ask for recommendations of any decent (or just enjoyable) high fantasy films. Any suggestions?
i would think that stardust would fit that discription, and i really enjoyed it.
Is that the Michelle Pfeiffer film?
Yeah, and clare danes. Willow is another, though i dont really like it that much. No one seems be able to make a good fantasy film.
Ah yeah, I don't mind that; I quite like Willow, too - but then I kind of like Legend and the Conan films, so there's no hope...
Conan films are awesome. I think they are probably Arnie at his greatest (though predator is good too). If you deviate away from HIGH fantasy then I adore Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle, they are some of my favorate films. Castle in the Sky is also very good.

Time bandits is good, though I love most Terry Gilliam work, he is just so crazy! And while we are talking about wierd, Dark City is definitely not high fantasy, but is a great scifi film. Very creepy and mind blowing
Yeah, Ghibli is classic cinema.

Not seen Time Bandits or Dark City, but I'll check them out. I might just watch Flight of Dragons tonight, though - if you've not seen, I really recommend you watch it.
Howls Moving Castle is awesome, not so keen on Spirited Away (gf loves it though). I also saw Ponyo the other day, but it is more of the same and not different enough for my liking, though it would be a great film to watch with your kids of course.

Flight of the Dragons reminds me of being a kid. I used to watch it loads! Big Grin

Yeah, I recorded it off the TV when I was about seven and watched it until the tape bust; watching it last night I could still pretty much recite the whole thing verbatim. I'd never realised how much of a vanity project the whole thing was before last night, either. The central character (Peter Dickenson) is the guy who wrote the film. Nevertheless, it's still cool.
I didn't know that. Oh well... loved it at the time (not seen it in years though!).
It doesn't detract; it's still class.
